in Edmond, OK
They say, “When it rains it pours.” And whoever “they” are weren’t wrong. May in Oklahoma can be a bit of a wild card where weather is concerned, and for Dani and Kyle’s wedding day — it was absolutely a “wild card” weather day. The day started cloudy/overcast, but clear, but quickly evolved to something darker, bluer, and grayer as the day progressed. It started to rain, the rain evolved into thunderstorms, and a few miles north evolved into “Tornado Warning” weather. Instead of passing quickly, like many Oklahoma storms that roll through, the storm turned into a bit of a torrential downpour that lasted for what seemed to be hours.
Despite the insane weather, Dani and Kyle radiated. Come hell or high water, nothing was ruining this day for them.
Based on old folklore, their knot will be one not easily broken. “They” say it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day, an idea born from the belief that rain symbolizes fertility, renewal, and cleansing. The phrase “tying the knot” also stems from the rainy wedding day beliefs because tying a wet knot is more difficult to undo therefore symbolizing a strong marriage.
