The Magnolia: an Industrial Hydrangea-Filled Inspired Wedding Shoot

When Josh and I got married, I remember wanting to find a venue that had a loft/industrial touch. For years I had envisioned a garden wedding, but as the venue hunt began, I wasn’t finding the garden look I had in mind. I began envisioning the styles of weddings we could have, and an industrial, downtown loft instantly came to mind. Venues weren’t quite as abundant as they are these days, so locating this industrial loft wasn’t as easy as I had hoped.

I was scrolling through Instagram a few months ago, when a venue space called the Magnolia popped up. I knew I wanted to photograph there within a second of seeing their feed. The walls are bare, and have a soft, pastel green coat of paint that appear randomly on the walls. There are twinkle lights that flow across the ceiling; a large chandelier christening the center of the room. And so much window light. The view of downtown Oklahoma City is perfect through their windows.

I shared the space with two fellow photographer friends, and they agreed this spot was perfect for our styled shoot. Soft lilac purple was our color choice, and we originally envisioned wisteria as our flower of choice. Unfortunately wisteria isn’t in season in January though. Lilac colored hydrangeas became the flower choice, and to keep it very minimalist and clean, we paired them with dusty miller. To tie it all together the dusty miller matched the pastel green splatter on the walls perfectly.

The Vendors Involved

Prescott Bridal was kind enough to loan one of their gowns for the shoot, and if you’re in the market for a wedding dress, you need to give them a visit. They offer some of my favorite brands like Wtoo by Watters and Tara Keely. Not to mention, the ladies of Prescott are wonderful!

Eros Stationery created a beautiful suite for us, as well as hand calligraphed two lavender tiles with two of my favorite quotes. F. Scott Fitzgerald quotes, to be exact.

Good Grief Goodies provided not one, but two beautiful cakes.

Gorgeous Blooms Floral Designed arranged the floral perfectly. I had envisioned the hydrangeas flowing off of two of the windowsills, and that was executed perfectly!

Loren Cox, an amazing makeup artist, provided makeup on our model, Ashlyn, and Shannon Klein completed her look with a beautiful, soft hair style.

Final Thoughts

This shoot came together perfectly, and couldn’t have been more beautiful. The venue is magical and would make a beautiful backdrop for any wedding (or event.) Had I found this venue location almost 5 years ago, it definitely would have been a top contender for our wedding venue! If you’re a bride that loves this style, we’d love to connect with you!
